High Performance Indoor Air Quality Specification for Net Zero Energy Homes
This report, written under a NIST contract, is a detailed indoor air quality architectural specification for use in residential new construction and renovation. The IAQ specification provides best practices for reducing indoor sources of formaldehyde and other VOCs. It is written in CSI Standard format so architects can modify and incorporate it into their design package. Testing of interior products for VOC emissions by CDPH Standard Method V1.2 is used in product selection. View Report
Test Methods for Measuring Formaldehyde Emissions from Laminate Flooring
This BkA white paper provides guidance on selection of test methods for composite wood flooring. To assess compliance of the composite wood core, testing should be performed by ASTM Standard Method D6007 typically with “deconstruction” to expose the core. For investigations on the impacts of wood flooring on indoor air formaldehyde concentrations, CDPH Standard Method V1.2 and ASTM D5116 expose only the top wear layer to chamber air. The emission factor for the surface can be used to predict airborne formaldehyde concentrations in a building. View White Paper
What CALGreen Means for Flooring Manufacturers in California Market
This BkA white paper informs the reader about the mandatory requirements for flooring products in non-residential and residential construction in California and shows the legal statements that architects and contractors are required to sign. The code language itself is analyzed with respect to the types of recognized claims and the implications for making claims that will be accepted under the new regulatory system. View White Papers
